Karen Krunch is one of the 5 members of the Krunch Family, which is formed by Karen, Klaus, Katy, Kristian and Ketchup. This family of characters has been created for the new corporate image of Krunch retaurant's spanish franchise.

Karen is Klaus's wife and Katy and Kristian's mother, as well as an excellent cook. She is a happy and sociable character and she loves dancing and having fun. She has an adorable voice and usually sings to the sound of her guitar, together with the rest of the family. In spite of having grown up in a very traditional environement, she is quite a modern woman. Along with her husband she manages the successful restaurant that her parents Karla and Kornelius passed on to her. Her specialty are European sandwiches.

Klaus is a family man. Wherever he goes he has a smile on his face, and a bit of naivety as well. He is more traditional than his wife Karen and loves everything related to the country and his roots. This is clearly reflected by his passion for his accordion, which he plays beautifully.
He helps her wife with the restaurant, and tries to get as much involved in it as he can. On top of that, he cooks delicious hamburguers that have become a trademark of his over the years.

From Left to Righ: Ketchup, Katy, Klaus, Kristian and Karen, the Krunch Family all together. These characters were created for the new corporate image of Krunch Retaurant's spanish franchise.








I was the person in charge to create the 5 characters, the concept design, the background and the history of each one of them. I also designed the new corporate image.


In the little gallery below, you can see three different illustrations starring the members of the Krunch Family, and the same drawings just inked without color. This illustrations were entirely inked and coloured digitally using Adobe Photoshop CS3 edition and a Wacom Intuos 3 A4 Pen Tablet. Clicking on the last banner image of the little gallery you can download a PDF file wich contains the original graphic design of the menu I developed for the Krunch Retaurants. Let me also point out that the text contents and the prices listed in the menu are not real. They are only for sample purposes.

From Left to the Righ: Katy, Ketchup and Kristian, the little kids of the Krunch Family. This family of characters has been created for the new corporate image of Krunch Retaurant's spanish franchise.




Her real name is Katherina but she prefers Katy. She is Klaus and Karen's daughter, and appart from Ketchup, she is the youngest and unruly member of the family. Because of that, she likes playing noisy instruments so much. She loves making scandal! She also likes drawing or "making drowings like her grandma's ones" in her own words, and over all, she loves cheese. For this reason, her favorite sandwiches are all the ones that have melted cheese.




Kristian is Katy's big brother. He is so shy that he always blushes when he is in trouble. Kristian is lovely and sensitive, as he shows when he plays his flute. He is a virtuoso despite of his early age. He is as traditional as his father Klaus and he loves all the things related to nature, specially animals. Because of this he likes so much playing with his beloved dog Ketchup. His favorite sandwiches are all of the "Classic" ones and he likes salads as well.




Ketchup is the pet of the family. He is a little Saint Bernard puppy who loves eating and sleeping. He also loves "singing" (in his way...) when someone of the Krunch Family plays any instrument, especially with the noisy Katy, for whom he emits deafening howls as musical accompaniment, not advisable for sensitive ears. Ketchup thinks that between two pieces of bread there is nothing better than an exclusive and delicious bone, but he also likes any of the meals prepared by his owners at the restaurant.

This illustrations are entirely inked and coloured digitally using Adobe Photoshop CS3 edition and a Wacom Intuos 3 A4 Pen Tablet.
